horrible service!
My friend really wanted to check out Normands b/c of all the positive reviews so we decided to check it out. It was also a special occasion and I really wanted to take my friends to somewhere nice with good food. Upon arriving, we were impressed with the deco and atmosphere of the restaurant. Very cozy and had a lot of character. Our server first asked us if we wanted any drinks and all three of us ordered water because of health reasons. And the server looked at us and gave us a look like "That's it?". I think he thought we were going to order wine. I brushed it off because I was thinking maybe he's just really busy at that moment and is having a rough day. My gf and I then ordered the dinner special and our other friend ordered kangaroo & ostrich which this place is famous for serving specialty dishes like these. The dinner special was steak, king crab meat and veggies. When the dishes arrived, our server did not tell us to enjoy our meals which we thought was rude. My friend liked his specialty dish but both our steaks were cooked incorrectly. I asked for medium rare but it came out too raw so I informed the server about it and all they did was re-cook for it and did not apologize for it. My gf's steak was too overcooked as well. It was after this, that I started to realize the server was being really rude to us. He slammed the dish of re-cooked steak on our table. We had to ask for re-fills for water. And when he poured water for us, he also slammed the glasses on the table. Finally, when he gave us the dessert menu, we were really full but still ordered a dish of dessert to share. He also slammed that dessert on our table. On our way out, he thanked all the guests that he served and he saw us but did not thank us. We wern't happy with how he treated us but we still tipped 10% despite what happened. I guess he wasn't happy with his tip and we've come to realized and felt that he probably started slamming things because we didn't order wine and just water and also because we didn't each order desserts and ordered one to share. He probably thought that we were cheap and we left feeling like we were treated like dirt despite paying about $160 for dinner for the three of us. I'm sorry, but about $160 is not cheap for one evening of dinner. I felt that we didnt' deserve that. I must say, however, the food here (despite the steak being cooked wrong) is still really tasty. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the fine dining experience with my friends as we decided to ignore this server and just enjoy each other's companionship. But we were really disappionted at the end with how we were treated and thought the service was horrible. We will never come back here again. The food is good if you don't mind the service.

Nov.15 Update: Actually I finally had an opportunity to talk to the owner and explained to him what happened. He was really nice about it and apologized for the bad service. He handled the situation and we were really happy after! Thought I let everyone know! Because of the owner, we might just go back!
