Not an outpost of Wolfgang Puck's famous eatery – far from it. Edmonton's Spago is actually a family owned and operated Portuguese restaurant with a warm and homey feel, a place where children are wholeheartedly welcomed and regulars are greeted like members of the family. Probably the most notable characteristic about this place is the service, which is unfailingly convivial and completely unpretentious. Dishes to try include anything with seafood (it's all scrupulously fresh), like porco a alentejana (pork and clams in white wine/butter/garlic sauce), or bacalhua a spago (cod, potatoes and a lemony cream baked in a clay pot), and the tasty Steak à Spago is a comforting (if not particularly healthy) piece of tender beef topped with a fried egg.   (© 10Best)
