 EDITOR REVIEW: ERIE. A great family attraction, the Erie Zoo features over 500 animals and lovely botanical gardens. Places like Penguin Coast and the Australian Walkabout feature interesting exhibits and educational opportunities. A large children's play area and picnic grounds provide the ideal spot for family outings. A charming petting zoo, a butterfly garden, an old-fashioned carousel and a bird aviary round out the fun-filled offerings. A train circles the zoo and is the perfect end to any zoo trip.
