ERIE.   Housed in a charming stone cottage, this restaurant seems to have been plucked from the English countryside and transported to the shores of Lake Erie. Sophistication and class define this restaurant at every turn, from the cosmopolitan cuisine to the expert wait staff and the talented chef. Both outdoors and in, the ambiance is one of gentility and romance – swans, a waterfall and a pond outside, antiques and a warm, glowing fireplace within. Chicken and shallot fricassee, black Angus prime rib, and lobster-stuffed filet mignon are just a sampling of Stonehouse's culinary delights.   (© 10Best)

Not Impressed
This restaurant had an excellent reputation for years, but I was disappointed. The service was slow, even though it wasn't busy, and as another reviewer said, you could hear chatter from the staff. The food was tolerable but nothing special. All in all, at best it was average

Dissapointing
After hearing mixed reveiew we tried it for a special anniversary. The chef seemed distracted and the food pretentious. The dishes sound exciting but the flavors were not pronounced in the dishes. The salads had a gritty substance in them and when we commented, there was no attempt to correct or eliminate from the bill. The chatter by the chef and wait staff at the bar was overly loud carrying into the 90% empty dining room- It was a Saturday no less but empty. Not a very good experience.I would give it 2 and 1/2 stars and expensive.

Absolutely Erie's best! Menu changes daily and offerings are listed on chaulkboards & described by the chef himself. We drive 1 1/2 hours from Buffalo NY - well worth it! If you are looking for great food and equally great dining experience - check this place out.
