ERIE.
Named for a native who lived on Presque Isle from 1860 to 1910, Joe Roots has an outstanding location on Peninsula Drive, the gateway to Erie's most notable natural attraction – Presque Isle State Park. Crisp salads, fresh seafood, sizzling steaks, and hearty burgers are perpetual favorites. Try the shrimp salad, the snow crab legs or the St. Louis ribs. The atmosphere is laid-back and convivial – perfect for a stop along the way to Erie's sun and sand.

The real deal w/ Joe Roots
Ok so it isn't the finest establishment ever, but here is the true breakdown. The inside is ok, decent sized bar and many booths and tables, including an outside patio. It's location is nice, right on Penninsula Dr just as you are reaching Presque Isle, so if your coming back from a day at the beach or riding your bike at the park it's convenient. Some entrees are hit or miss, but their dinner salads (esp grilled chix) are pretty good, try the tomato basil vinagrette dressing. Their fish filets are decent (couple different species and preparations), the thing to remember is that your at an average restaurant in a 'city' that isn't known for its food necessarily. Most things I've had here were pretty good.

My husband, family and I have had many satisfactory meals and excellent meals at Joe Roots, and our last visit there featured among the best, most perfectly done broiled scallops I have ever tasted.

I can't believe people eat there. The food is awful. If you don't know how to cook - you might like it.
