Bay Cruises

ERIE. Cruising Erie's picturesque Bay is a popular option among visitors, and the area offers a number of different ways to do so. General bay cruises and dinner cruises are available on the "Victorian Princess," a refurbished paddlewheel boat; call 814-459-9696 for details. Located at Dobbins Landing, Water Taxi also provides bay cruises; call 814-881-2502. Presque Isle Boat Tours (814-836-0201) offers tours aboard the "Lady Kate."

Dobbins Landing

ERIE. Located at the end of Erie's State Street and just off Interstate 79, Dobbins Landing anchors the city's growing Bayfront District. The landing hosts the Bicentennial Tower, a 187-foot tower that is open to the public and affords stunning views of lovely Presque Isle, the Bay and Lake Erie. Water taxis regularly depart from the landing, supplying guests with the opportunity to tour the entire Bay area. Alongside the dock is Liberty Park and its outdoor amphitheater. The Erie Maritime Museum is also close by and offers access to the US Brig "Niagara."

ERIE. This exciting art museum hosts over 15 changing exhibitions each year and incorporates over 5000 objects from its permanent collection as well. The themes of the collection are diverse, ranging from folk art and contemporary crafts. Representative media sculpture, pottery, woodwork, paintings, drawings, prints and photographs represent art from across the world.

ERIE. A great family attraction, the Erie Zoo features over 500 animals and lovely botanical gardens. Places like Penguin Coast and the Australian Walkabout feature interesting exhibits and educational opportunities. A large children's play area and picnic grounds provide the ideal spot for family outings. A charming petting zoo, a butterfly garden, an old-fashioned carousel and a bird aviary round out the fun-filled offerings. A train circles the zoo and is the perfect end to any zoo trip. Tickets can be purchased at the zoo's entrance.

ERIE. Arguably Erie's top attraction, the Presque Isle is one of the state's most popular parks. It's a lovely finger of land that's bordered by Lake Erie on one side and the Bay on the other. It includes over 15 miles of well-maintained hiking trails, paved biking and rollerblading trails and a number of sandy beaches perfect for sunning and walking. Boating, fishing, hunting, kayaking, birdwatching and swimming are all pastimes to be enjoyed at this magnificent natural attraction. The Presque Isle also includes picnic areas and a picturesque lighthouse on one of its northernmost beaches.

ERIE. In a city that receives more than its share of lake effect snow and cold temps, a perpetual tropical paradise of 84 degree weather and water-filled fun sounds almost unreal ... unless, of course, you factor in Splash Lagoon, a huge, indoor water park that features body coasters, tube coasters, an 80,000 gallon activity pool, a toddler water park called Monkeyshine Island, a five story tree house, video arcades, laser tag and more. Extreme rides have names like Big Kahuna, Cyclone and Hurricane Hole. A number of restaurants and hotels conveniently adjoin the facility.

U. S. Brig Niagara and Erie Maritime Museum

ERIE. The US Brig "Niagara" is the reconstructed flagship of the Keystone State. A replica of the sailing vessel commanded by Commodore Oliver H. Perry during the War of 1812 and the Battle of Lake Erie, this ship docks for part of the year in Erie's harbor and is open for tours. The Erie Maritime Museum serves as home base for the brig and provides access to it as well as education on the battle, the region's involvement and the ship's details. The museum's shop offers maritime souvenirs and other Niagara memorabilia.

Waldameer Park & Water World

ERIE. A fun-filled amusement park and water park all in one, Waldameer means lots of squeals and giggles from the junior set and adults as well. The theme park side has coasters, a carousel, kiddy rides, live shows and midway games while the water park showcases water slides, tube rides, splash pools and more. The likes of Thunder River log flume and the Steel Dragon coaster make for hours of thrilling entertainment. On-site eateries and picnic areas allow for family get togethers. Combo tickets are available.

Warner Theatre
