WERDEN. This basilica has a rich history. Built on the site of a Frisian monastery, which dates back to 796, Abteikirche St. Liudger was commissioned in 1256 by the Staufen family. The Romanesque-style church houses the remains of Frisian missionary Liudger and several religious artifacts.
