Exeter, as one would expect, has very strong ties to the sea. For hundreds of years, the city prospered as a result of its port. Today, the Quayside area hearkens back to a time when the city's fortunes ebbed with the tide. This cobblestone, pedestrian-only thoroughfare is one of Exeter's proudest sights and also one of its busiest. You'll find shops and restaurants of all types as well as the historic Custom House, which dates back to the 1860's. (© 10Best) More Details for Exeter's Historic Quayside
