DOWNTOWN. One of the area's more cutting-edge art facilities, the award-winning Plains Art Museum exhibits impressive permanent and temporary collections each season. Some of them showcase works by the region's most innovative contemporary artists, and some focus on artists around the country. The content of featured exhibits ranges from the works of Master Papermaker Paul Wong or those by New York photographer Deborah Mesa Pelly to retrospectives on the Western-inspired work of native North Dakotan Walter Piehl, Jr. The museum charges no admission on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. After viewing the works on display, stop by Café Muse for coffee or a bite to eat.
