EAST DICKSON. This stately white mansion with its Revival-style columns was built in 1853 by Judge Jonas Tebbetts and is one of the city's oldest residences. Headquarters House fell under the command of both Union and Confederate forces several times during the War Between the States, thus earning its name. The home has been restored to its original grandeur and is designated as the first stop on the Washington-Willow walking tour. A fascinating tidbit of trivia: the Battle of Fayetteville (April 18, 1863) practically took place on the front lawn of the Headquarters House and forever earned this spot, located at the crossing of College and Dickson, the nickname "Bloody Corner."
