WEST FORK. South of Fayetteville, White Creek cuts through the Ozarks and creates the beautifully surreal scene that has become known as Devil's Den. Here, in the 1930s, the state park commission created a tranquil, eight-acre lake and surrounded it with rustic cabins. The park offers several hiking trails of varying difficulty, including the 14.5-mile Butterfield Trail, which follows an old stagecoach route past scenic sites such as Vista Point and Blackburn Creek. In addition, white water enthusiasts can enjoy Lee Creek's 10+ miles of good runs. Detailed information about the park's facilities is available at the visitor center.
