DOWNTOWN. Originally home to State Supreme Court Justice David Walker, this lovely Georgian home on Center Street was constructed in the 1840s. Like much of Fayetteville, the home was unable to remain unscathed during the Civil War, as a cannon blast during the Battle of Fayetteville (1864) struck one of its exterior walls. In later years, noted architect Edward Durrell Stone, designer of Chicago's Amoco and Standard Oil Buildings, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the American Embassy in New Dehli, also lived at 207 West Center as a child. Today, the house functions as office space. (© 10Best) More Details for Walker - Stone House
