TONTITOWN.   One of the more unique communities found in Northwest Arkansas, Tontitown was founded by Father Pietro Bandini in 1898 and settled primarily by Italian immigrants fleeing the poverty of their homeland. The town was named in honor of explorer Henri de Tonti, a member of LaSalle's company and one of the first Italian explorers to visit Arkansas. The museum, which opened its doors in 1986, chronicles the history of the community and its popular Grape Festival.   (© 10Best)
