DOWNTOWN. Constructed in 1904, Fayetteville's old redbrick courthouse is noteworthy for several reasons, not the least of which is its attractive, hand-cut stone facade and stately clock tower. Inside the building, visitors will find a large mural that commemorates the soldiers who fought in the first World War. Just a short walking distance from the courthouse is the old jail, which dates from the 1890s and was constructed in the Romanesque style.
