This pastoral, wooded canyon east of the city was once the home of the Sinagua tribe. Nestled beneath rock overhangs above Walnut Creek, cliff dwellings were incorporated into the strata. Dating from the 12th and 13th centuries, these 300 homes offer a glimpse of life in the days of America's prehistory. Trails lead from the visitors center to the dwellings, some of which can be explored firsthand. A small museum showcases Sinagua artifacts and exhibits about their culture.
