In 1550, the Medici family purchased the Pitti Palace. With it came a large park area that had not been landscaped up to that point. Niccolò Pericoli worked on the gardens from 1550 until his death in 1558. The Boboli Gardens were made public in 1774. You can enjoy great views of the city from on top of the hills of the garden and the rose garden makes a lovely site when it is in season. The gardens are adorned with multiple statues that make this a perfect representative of an Italian Renaissance garden.
