This husband-and-wife run café has row after row of Italian wines lined up against the back wall. You can tell the vino is a specialty here. At the long counter, order a sandwich and watch as it is freshly made from the best ingredients, including sun-dried tomato and pecorino, spicy wild boar sausage, or about 30 other combinations. You may have to take it to go, as space is limited, but don't leave without having a glass of the house red. No reservations. Casual dress.   (© 10Best)

This is simply put the best food available in Florence. As of 5/23/04 their 27 difference sandwiches cost €2.10 and a smallish glass of Chianti is €1.80. One sandwich is big enough for a snack, two make a meal (plus wine of course). The spicy wild boar salami and soft goat cheese (the number 27) is divinely inspired. A few blocks from the Uffizi and a few block from the Duomo this shop was my favorite in all of Italy. If your in Florence for more than four hours don't miss this treasure! Small wonder they have been in business since 1875.
