ESTERO.   Two of the more historically significant attractions in Ft Myers, the Koreshan State Historic Site and Mound Key State Architectural Site sit on a mound that is believed to be the former stronghold of the Calusa Indians. This Fort Myers historic site allows visitors to tour the 125-acre island, which can only be accessed by boat from Koreshan. There is also a great deal of information offered on the Calusa Indians that inhabited the area.   (© 10Best)
