7. Sanibel Historical Village and Museum

SANIBEL ISLAND.   A restored village depicting the settlement of the early pioneers to the area, the Sanibel Historical Village and Museum takes visitors back to the 1890s of Florida. Offering more than the typical Ft Myers attractions, Sanibel Village displays several different historic buildings, from the original Old Schoolhouse to the Old Post Office, providing visitors with a real image of what this settlement was like in the 1890s.   (© 10Best)

Volunteers walk you through the "cracker house" and explain the history of not only the building site, but the history of Sanibel Island itself. There are several buildings on the site and questions can be asked of the volunteers in the cracker house about any of the other buildings. Very informative.
