4. Johnny Appleseed Festival

The Buzz -- John Chapman, aka Johnny Appleseed, wandered the Indiana frontier planting orchards that would later earn him his nickname as well as legendary status among settlers. He is now buried in Fort Wayne, and this September festival celebrates his life with re-enactments, period costumes, musical presentations, and, of course, tons of food. The event raises money for several area non-profit groups.
