Fort Worth Attractions & Activities, Attractions & Activities in Fort Worth

Perhaps the most popular tourist destination in Fort Worth is the Stockyards Historic District, with good reason. It's here that you can experience the thrill of a cattle drive (every day!), check out some bronco bustin' at the rodeo (every Friday and Saturday night), test your mettle against the Cowtown Cattlepen Maze, catch a ride on the historic Grapevine Vintage Railroad, or explore the area's history at Stockyards Museum or the Cowboy Hall of Fame. Outside this district you'll find an additional wealth of opportunity. Seek out your favorite critters at the Fort Worth Zoo, gaze at the works of contemporary masters at the Modern Art Museum, rest and rejuvenate at the Fort Botanical Garden, broaden your mind at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History (which also has an IMAX theater), or better your understanding of the West through art at the Amon Carter Museum. Forest Park is not only a fine greenspace and relaxing escape from city demands, it's also home to the Log Cabin Village, a fascinating living history museum. Venturing further afield, the Fossil Rim Conservation and Learning Center in Glen Rose is a preserve with some 1000 rare and endangered animals. Also in Glen Rose is Dinosaur Valley State Park, a real find for dino-maniacs and outdoors enthusiasts. If it's not a vacation without at least one trip to an amusement park, you're in luck. In nearby Arlington there's Six Flags Over Texas and Six Flags Hurricane Harbor. -- Kim Goodin, 10Best Editor
