GLEN ROSE.   On a 1500-acre site once used as a wild game ranch, this nature preserve shelters more than 1000 free-roaming exotic animals. The conservation-minded park offers a refuge for rare and endangered species and makes every effort to ensure that its inhabitants are able to thrive and propagate. A 9.5-mile road through the sanctuary grants visitors a view of the animals' daily lives. In conjunction with exhibits, children are provided a variety of activities that educate them and foster an appreciation of life in all its incarnations. Along with a petting pasture, fossil hunts, and a wildlife walk, visitors will find a restaurant, a nature store, and accommodations. Located 50 miles southwest of Fort Worth in Glen Rose.   (© 10Best)

Great place to take the kids.
I've been taking my kids to Fossil Rim for the last 6 years. We have always had a great time. There are not many places to go and hand feed Giraffes, Zebras, and other animals. There's a nice cafe and rest area for lunch about half-way thru. Be sure to stop by Pie Peddlers on the way home or visit Dinosaur World or Dinosaur Valley State Park to make the most of the day. Other than the occassional resort, there's not a lot in the area. Enjoy!
