SOUTHWEST FORT WORTH.   Although the cuisine defiantly bucks categorization (it's labeled Mediterranean, French and New American, alternately), this restaurant is simply one of the area's best. The Provençal interior features sunny yellow walls accented by pottery, oils, and watercolors. The creative menu lists superb dishes like foie gras, Colorado prime beef, pecan-fried chicken, baked Pacific salmon, soft-shell crabs, and sea scallops. Desserts, whether a cheese course or something more decadent, follow suit. The terrific wine list offers vintages by the glass and the bottle.   (© 10Best)

My wife and I have been to Bistro Louise on four occasions over the past years. Our first encounters were marvelous. The ambience, food and service were top notch. This past Saturday I took my wife for a birthday meal and was very much disappointed with changes that have taken place since our last visit several years prior. The male waiter was relatively proficient, but was clearly not a professional at his business. My salmon was delicious, as were the cheese appetizer and lobster bisque. My wife's swordfish was well over cooked and came out looking very dark colored and was very dry. The waiter brought luke warm espresso to my wife, steaming hot, tasteless cappuccino to me. He managed to have almost as much liquid in the saucer as in the cup. He excused himself by saying, Oh well, it will taste just the same out of the saucer". We did enjoy the bread pudding and did complain to our waiter about the swordfish. He said he noticed it looked awfully dark to him but served it anyway. The cost of the swordfish was removed from our bill. But the whole experience was very disappointing for the both of us. What a shame, since this was the only really classy Mediterranean style restaurant in the Fort Worth area.
