CITY CENTER. This homage to St. Bartholomew holds a singular place in German history as one of a few churches raised to the position of "Imperial cathedral." Royal coronations were held in its soaring Gothic interior for hundreds of years. Relief sculptures of the stations of the cross line the walls and the exterior of the church is crowned by one of the most magnificent steeples in the world. The church is closed to visitors during church services.
