Finished at the turn of the 20th century, the Kearney Mansion is a Victorian extravaganza in French Renaissance style built for agricultural developer M. Theo Kearney. Featuring ornate furnishings, elaborate moldings, and French wallpapers, the home was intended as a caretaker's residence, but Kearney died before the main house could be completed. The house is a telling glimpse into the life of California's wealthy; its surrounding gardens, designed by landscape designer Rudolph Ulrich, are a gorgeous composition as well. They include picnicking facilities and play areas.
