The kitchen is above average; the physical setting is worn and vintage 1975; but the wait -- that was absolutely incredible. Our reservations were at 8 p.m. We were finally seated at 9:45 p.m. The thing that angered everyone in the huge crowd gathered waiting for a table was that no one -- NO ONE -- ever ONCE came out and explained the delay. Granted, we were less than bright to just wait like cattle, but we'd heard so much about the place, and it was our anniversary. Clary Milburn, the owner, was extremely kind and gentlemanly. WHEN he finally appeared. No apology. No explanation. Our anniversary dinner was marred by the effort just to be seated. The food: it was good. There were people around us who had driven hours, as had we, to enjoy Clary's. The broiled shrimp that I ordered were good, but not transcendent, and certainly not worth the ordeal required. So, go to Clary's, enjoy, but take a lot of patience, or take a Valium.
