Landry's has become a seafood staple in Galveston and all along the Gulf Coast. One of the main reasons is the vast seafood menu comprised of dishes like shrimp Creole, herb-crusted red snapper, broiled flounder, gumbo, clam chowder and grilled mahi mahi. There are plenty of other choices as well, including salads, pastas and steak for the landlubber. Casual and family friendly, the restaurant is great for groups.

Rarely do I find such a oasis in a desert!
I dined at this Landry's last month on a trip to Galveston. The atmosphere was beautiful and relaxed. The staff could not have been any better. The food was great. These people really know how to make a salad. Instead of the usual salad of Iceburg lettuce and a tomato slice that comes with most dinners, Landry's salad was loaded with fresh crisp spring greens, cucumber bits, tomato and on and on.
I had a seafood combo consisting of fish, shrimp and scallops as the entre. Grilled to perfection and as fresh as you could ever want. This came with a wonderfully seasoned rice and fresh steamed veggies!
I also had a MaiTai which seemed to be their specialty drink. Again, excellently done.
My experience was so pleasant, relaxing and delicious that I asked to see the manager. It's been well over 20 years since I've heaped this kind of praise on a restaurant.
I was there at lunch time and the whole thing only ran me a little over $20 including the drink. It would have still be an excellent dining experience at twice that.
I am returning to Galveston in 4 days. As you can imagine, I will be going to Landry's again. And probably
more than once.
