Centre for Contemporary Arts

Recently reopened after a £10 million facelift, this modern facility hosts a broad variety of modern works. Now triple its former size, visual art of every style is displayed, including pieces from the area's up-and-coming artists. Performances, concerts, readings, and lectures are frequently held here. Another new feature is the ability to showcase multimedia art.

Citizens' Theatre

The Citizens' Theatre is home to the Citizens' Company, founded in 1943 by the Scottish playwright James Birdie. The theater seats 600, and it usually hosts sell-out performances. This theater contains two small studios and one main auditorium. Call ahead to find out the current play schedule.

King's Theatre

King's Theatre sponsors many classic dramas and traveling musicals. Recently, "Annie" and "Oliver" have both been performed on the stage of King's. You will often find some of your favorites playing in this theater. When it is not a well-known piece, you can be assured that it will still be the best quality of performance.

The Arches

The Arches is one of Scotland's busiest, most diverse and most exciting arts venues. With a dynamic and cutting edge programme of events that includes theatre, live music, visual art, fashion and late night club events, it is at the epicentre of the thriving Glasgow arts scene. Situated under Central Station and within 7 Victorian railway arches, the atmosphere and setting reflects its unique programming. The Cafe Bar and restaurant serves food until 10pm and stays open until midnight 7 days per week.

The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall

You may see dance performances such as flamenco, or you may find yourself in a performance of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, in addition to other national and international orchestras. Some of the performances include adaptations to the classics, such as a musical adaptation to Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet."

The Pavilion Theatre Glasgow

The Pavilion Theatre is nearly 100 years old, with its first public performance dating back to February 29, 1904. This public theater hosts comedies such as "Mrs. Brown's Last Wedding" and the "Naughty Naughty Hypno Show" with Peter Powers. The Pavilion seats nearly 1,500 people, and the theatre is always packed for the regularly scheduled programs.

The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama

The Tramway

The Tramway is dedicated to presenting original and challenging visual and performing arts programs. In the exhibition area, you can view the visual art exhibitions for free. Performances aim to reach inside the audience and have them reevaluate themselves and their own lives; some performances are even interactive in which the audience is invited to participate. The Tramway also sponsors classes, seminars, and regular Saturday music. Ticket prices depend on performance.

The Tron Theatre

The Tron Theatre presents a variety of live performances, especially music and contemporary Scottish drama. You are likely to find the works of new, local playwrights on the stage of the Tron. You can easily make an entire evening at the Tron, as they have a pre- and post-play menu special, so you can have dinner and dessert before or after the performance.
