With more than one million books and documents filling its shelves, this is Europe's largest reference library. Open since 1911 and named for Stephen Mitchell, who made a fortune in tobacco. The hallmark of the building is its majestic dome, which features the visage of Minerva, goddess of wisdom.   (© 10Best)
