6. Public Museum of Grand Rapids

DOWNTOWN.   Grand Rapid's Public Museum houses the Van Andel Museum Center & Roger B. Chaffee Planetarium and is located in the heart and soul of the city, a part of town where you'll also find a slew of trendy restaurants and bars. The museum has fascinating exhibits that focus on natural history and science; in addition, patrons can also learn about regional culture and history and the area's Native American heritage. The Roger B. Chaffee Planetarium offers the chance to explore the heavens without ever having to leave downtown.
