DOWNTOWN.   One of the true treasures of Grand Rapids' cultural scene, this nationally acclaimed museum hosts a variety of special exhibits throughout the year, including Winter 2002's "Picasso and Landmarks of Modernism" exhibit and Fall 2002's "Eye of the Beholder: A History of Photography." Among the GRAM's permanent holdings are Salomon van Ruysdael's " Landscape with Travelers" 1640), Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse's terra cotta "Portrait of an Actress" (c. 1870), Mathias Alten's "The Last Load" (c. 1935), and watercolorist John Singer Sargent's "The Brook."
