BELMONT. Offering a terrific escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, this linear trail cuts across the Michigan countryside, stretching from Comstock Park (just north of Grand Rapids) to Cadillac. Michigan's longest and narrowest state park, White Pine winds 94 miles through dense wooded areas, over amber knolls, and past countless natural springs and ponds. The trail is open year-round – to walkers, runners, and bikers in the summer and to cross-country skiers in the winter. Snowmobiling is allowed on some parts of the trail. An access point is on Belmont Drive, just north of its intersection with West River Drive.
