4. Grand Rapids Brewing Company

One of Western Michigan's notable brew pubs, GRBC has been making beer since the 1890s, when six small breweries consolidated under one banner. House brews bear colorful handles like Centennial Silver Foam, River City Red, and Lumberman Dark, and each one is crafted on the premises and served in a frosty mug or pint glass. A large bar with decorative shelves serves as the focal point, and there's also a casual dining area that's great for family outings. The menu features lots of items to accompany the beer, including cheese and sour cream-smothered potato skins, hickory-grilled steaks, heaping pasta plates, and salads.
