GREEN BAY. Founded in 1958, this museum preserves the history of, and promotes interest in, great American railways through a collection of more than 70 locomotives and railcars, an educational film, and rides on "Thomas the Tank Engine". Among the more fascinating pieces of history on display are Dwight D. Eisenhower's World War II command train and General Motors' ultra-modern "Aerotrain." In addition, the unique facility serves as a full-service retirement home for one of the rail industry's most famous steam locomotives: Union Pacific's "Big Boy." Rides aboard "Thomas the Tank" are available only during spring and summer months.
