With a history that includes transporting slaves in false-bottomed wagons during the Underground Railroad, this Quaker Plantation dates back to the early 1800s. James Mendenhall originally granted the lands in 1762, and the house, constructed in 1811, features simple Quaker architecture. The Mendenhall Plantation is but a short drive from Greensboro and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
