5. Reenactment of the Battle of Guilford Courthouse

The Buzz -- On the weekend closest to March 15, hundreds of costumed participants arrive at Price Park to reenact the 1781 Battle of Guilford Courthouse. Although the rebels lost the battle, it weakened the British forces, which led to their subsequent defeat at Yorktown. In addition to the reenactment, visitors can enjoy music, games, candlelight tours, living history demonstrations, crafts, open hearth cooking, and numerous other activities. The original battleground is comprised of land situated in three connecting parks – Price, Tannenbaum Historic Park, and Guilford Courthouse National Military Park. Events are scheduled at all three.
