WOODRUFF ROAD. Set along busy Woodruff Road, Lieu's is one of the area's top destination for fantastic Chinese cuisine. The inviting, clean-lined interior allows the rich flavors of Lieu's dishes to get all the sensory attention. Begin with a duck spring roll or refreshing seaweed salad before digging into tender Asian ribs, Cantonese crispy duck, Mandarin scallops or spicy shredded pork. These offer just a hint of the kitchen's skill, which touches everything from beef to vegetables to noodles. Delicious, affordable lunch specials include brown or white rice and soup or salad.

DOWNTOWN. Attracting constant crowds, Tsunami gains favor for its fantastic sushi. Fresh, well-seasoned and delicious, each item is presented in an authentic Japanese manner. The menu is ŕ la carte, so select a variety of dishes and sample them with friends. Mussels are a great choice, as is the Rock'n Roll, where fish is wrapped around flavored rice, instead of vice versa. Beer, wine and take-out are available, but reservations aren't, so come early to get a table or a seat at the bar. Downtown's only sushi bar.

EAST NORTH STREET. Tastefully adapted from a former fast-food restaurant, Pho #1 has been bathed in neutral colors, dressed in linens, and given a bright, spacious revamp. Even better, the food is incredible, always prepared to order from fresh ingredients. Naturally, the signature noodle soup is available in many variations, but it's joined by vermicelli bowls, rice plates, pad Thai options and stir-fry dishes. Plus, meatless dishes provide many options for vegetarians. A wonderful excursion into lesser-known Asian fare.

HAYWOOD ROAD. Within this Japanese restaurant, the decor is full of exotic flourish, with trailing greenery, gilt-accented mirrors and polished surfaces. The chefs, too, are exuberant, as they prepare steak, chicken, shrimp and vegetables right before your eyes. Slicing, dicing and bantering, they sauté the food at large, communal tables and dish it out in steaming portions. Along with a crisp, dressed salad and cold sake, it makes for a substantial meal. Great for group dinners.

DOWNTOWN. A long, chic sushi bar and tall bistro tables flank the interior of this popular downtown restaurant. Start off with some edomame and shrimp dumplings, then take your pick of the wide variety of veggie, raw and cooked sushi offerings. Try the popular rainbow roll (filled with salmon, crab and shrimp), or indulge in a tasty tempura dish. EAST NORTH STREET. Thai Top's intimate space, despite its strip mall location, gets a kick of exoticism with sequined pillows and banquettes dressed in an elephant-themed print. They give a visual nod to the place's spice-punched dishes, which include a satisfying pad Thai (adjust the heat level to your taste), roasted curry seafood, cashew chicken, eggplant with basil and spicy broad noodles. Fresh salads and soups are available too, along with daily specials. Knowledgeable servers contribute to the appeal, and a well-priced lunch menu is ideal for quick, casual dining.
