Why it is number one!
Bucky's and Henry's Smokehouse would vie year in and year out as the top two BBQ joints in Greenville with Smokin Stokes a comfortable third (honorable mention to Brushy Creeky BBQ). As a local lover of the 'Q, I would have to say because Bucky's food is overall better quality day in and day out. Their ribs are the absolute best in the Upstate. Their pork sandwhiches are never dry and make the mouth water at the thought of taking a bite now! If someone would say they have had a bad meal at Bucky's, they would be short on Southern taste buds! If you are looking for atmosphere, Bucky's is a "joint/dive" as it should be. No respectful great BBQ joint needs to be anything else (take note Sticky Fingers - Main Street Address). The only disappointment is that they are not open to the public seven days a week 24 hours a day, but then again, no great family joint is either.

We love Bucky's Bar-B-Q. It is always good with wonderful flavor and friendly family atmosphere. The portions are always big and service is great! We drive from the other side of town to eat at Bucky's.

I think it's the best barbecue in Greenville. All you can eat on Wednesday and Friday night- applies to their ribs.

Bucky's was just OK in my opinion.

BBQ is the one food I could not live without. Being new to the area I just began randomly trying places. Bucky's was one of the first places that I tried. Now I must say, I thought that the price was extremely reasonable, but I did not let that figure into this review, as I am just here to discuss the food. Meat- I only tried the pulled pork this time, but it was good (not excellent, not great- simply good). Nice texture, slight smoky flavor, and enjoyable. I was not "wowed" by any means, but at the same time I also did not dislike it. As for the sides, well I understand that at most BBQ places the sides are not going to be home-made, but I really do not want to enter an establishment and see giant gallon cans of beans and know automatically that what I am getting is going to only be so-so. That being said, the sides were just Okay. The mustard base sauce I enjoyed, however the tomato based sauce was a little thin and had just a bit too much of a tomato flavor for me. That being said, I gave Bucky's 3/5 Stars. It's a great place to grab a quick, decent, cheap plate of BBQ, but it just was not quite good enough overall for me.

Bucky's is without doubt the best BBQ in Greenville! There's typically a full house during lunch at the Donaldson location. I have seen lines of 20 on several occasions. They are one of the only BBQ restaurants that chop the tender meat as they fill orders. And...they never skimp on the meat or sides. Ice tea is free with the meal.

The sauce tasted like ketchup not BBQ sauce and my meat wasn't cut up enough! YUCK

My family has combed Greenville for the best bar-b-q and my family and friends feel Bucky's is the best when it comes to flavor, tenderness, variety in meats and side dishes and cost. (Yum yum..those ribs, pulled pork and chicken.) Don't forget their fantastic sweet potato crunch. My in-laws from Rhode Island and friends from Charleston, SC required that I bring an assortment of Bucky's meats and side dishes when our family visits. Yes, I fly it to Rhode Island with me and take it to Charleston and the beach. The owner and family are so friendly. It has a very casual atmosphere. Even if you see a long line, they handle it with speed and courtesy. They are very efficient in their catering which they have done for me several times. You'll see my family and friends there every Friday night....no..we don't get tired of it!
