WEST END. Autumnal hues add a pleasant visual warmth to Rainer's, along with brick walls, patterned rugs, and an eclectic assortment of mismatched tables and chairs. They're a fitting backdrop to colorful, whimsical artwork that's all for sale. So, too, is an easy-to-browse selection of desserts, light fare, and coffees. Owner Betty Bercowski named the intriguing enterprise after her son (the vowel in Rainer's is a long i, not a long a), and it's a delightful place for an afternoon respite. Enjoy a chicken salad sandwich, a slice of homemade cake, or a steaming cup of Leopard Forest blend while you take in the canvases around you. Great for casual meet-ups.
