1. Downtown Greenville

DOWNTOWN. The nerve center of Greenville, Downtown is revitalized with Main Street comprised mainly of chic restaurants, trendy bars and stylish shops. Anchored by the Hyatt Regency on one end and the West End on the other, Downtown is lined with huge, arching trees and graceful street lanterns. Canopied bistros with outdoor dining areas set the stage for relaxing dinners and the easy pace of wandering shoppers. A great place to tap into the life of the city.

HAYWOOD ROAD. Perhaps Greenville's most popular shopping destination, Haywood Mall offers over 150 stores. Anchored by Sears, JC Penney, Dillard's, Macy's and Belk, the mall's selection includes Gap, Abercrombie & Fitch, Pottery Barn, Williams-Sonoma, Hollister & Co. and Banana Republic. A food court and branches of Panera Bread and Marble Slab are convenient when you're ready for a bite to eat.

3. West End

WEST END. This compact district is an adjunct to Greenville's larger downtown area. It reached its height of prestige in the late 19th century but then lost prominence until 1994, when the city spearheaded an effort to transform an old warehouse into the WestEnd Market, a complex of small shops and upscale restaurants. Now, granted a new focal point and infused with renewed energy, this neighborhood is of late home to luxury condos, design studios, antique shops, bars, restaurants, the Warehouse Theatre and West End Field, home of the Greenville Drive baseball team.

WOODRUFF ROAD. Located on Woodruff Road, this attractive shopping center is anchored by Lowe's, Best Buy, Total Wine, World Market, Barnes & Noble, and several other superstores. Several free-standing brick buildings at the center of the complex house stores such as Ann Taylor Loft, White House/Black Market, Talbots, Foxfire Gallery & Kitchen Shop and Yankee Candle. Dining options include Panera Bread, Brixx Pizza, Cold Stone Creamery, Salsarita's and Mimi's Café.

5. Augusta Road

This busy thoroughfare is a testament to Greenville's growth and prosperity. Lined with fine boutiques, elegant gift shops and a multitude of restaurants, it's also bordered by some of the city's more upscale residential areas. Check it out for those hard to find finds!

HAYWOOD ROAD. If you have a one-track mind for shopping, Haywood Road will accommodate your needs. A commercialized area with easy access from I-385, it's the site of Haywood Mall as well as a number of other shopping centers. You can drive along Haywood to find your favorite chain stores and a host of popular dining establishments. The offerings aren't exceedingly original, but they're dependable and in close proximity to one another.

WOODRUFF ROAD. Packed with chain businesses, Woodruff Road offers everything from discount megastores to mid-tier shopping. Options include Costco, BJ's, Target, Old Navy, Shoe Carnival, Circuit City and Whole Foods. The Shops at Greenridge is also located on Woodruff Road.

NORTH PLEASANTBURG. Located just off North Pleasantburg, the State Farmers Market is a short drive from downtown Greenville. The market's main building sells produce such as apples, peanuts and tomatoes year round, while a separate shed, open on Saturdays from April to November, offers fresh veggies, baked goodies, plants and fresh cut flowers. Other vendors set up flower stands by the parking lot, offering everything from verbena and petunias to shrubs, herbs, and succulents.

9. Cherrydale Point

CHERRYDALE. Convenient to downtown and Furman University, this shopping center includes an Old Navy, TJ Maxx, Shoe Carnival, Bath and Body Works, Ross Dress for Less, and Cherrydale Cinemas. Nearby dining options include Atlanta Bread Company, Frodo's Pizza, Flat Rock Grille and Ruby Tuesday's.
