This interesting local museum houses a permanent display from a collection of over 40,000 artifacts at its main building on Newcastle Street and also operates two historic homes that offer guests a look back in time to the way things used to be in Canada's eastern province of Nova Scotia. Tour the historic Evergreen House (the museum's primary location) or walk the halls of the simple Quaker House located at 57 Ochterloney Street. The Quaker house was constructed in 1786 and is the oldest residence in the Halifax Municipality Region. The Evergreen house dates back to 1867 and was formerly the home of noted author Dr. Helen Creighton.
