6. Wasatch Mountain State Park

MIDWAY.   Set amid the beauty of the Heber Valley, this expansive park (22,000 acres) is a favorite playground for residents and visitors to the area. Two campgrounds (closed in winter)accommodate overnight guests. Short-term visitors take advantage of hiking and mountain-biking trails, horseback riding, and picknicking sites. During the winter, you'll find outdoor enthusiasts maneuvering snowmobiles across the ice and snow, along with cross-country skiers making their way through the countryside.
