6. Nora Mill Granary

HELEN.   This historic grain mill and shop, sited along the swift Chattanooga River, first opened in 1876. More than 125 years later, the original water mill is still in operation and available for tours on Saturdays. Visitors can purchase cornmeal, grits, and biscuit-and-gravy mix. The on-site gift shop also offers food samples and scores of gift items for purchase.   (© 10Best)
