3. Oktoberfest

The Buzz -- Celebrating Western NC's German heritage, this popular event annually pulls in 100,000 visitors. For nearly two decades, folks have congregated for the family-friendly occasion, which caters to both kids and adults. Carnival rides, arts and crafts, two stages of live music, a beer garden, and local shopping ensure that there's plenty of activity, and 30 food vendors ply folks with everything from funnel cakes to chicken pot pies. Also requisite (and on hand) are hot dogs, hamburgers, and good times. Two stages for music host 20-25 bands over the weekend.
