HICKORY.
Tucked discreetly into a former residence, 1859 Cafe greets patrons with a strong measure of hospitality and a well-conceived menu. Inside the romantic restaurant, guests can start with grilled oysters or lump crab cakes before moving to rack of lamb with hazelnut crust, bacon-wrapped grouper florentine, or roasted half-duck with port wine cherry sauce. Live music is a welcome perk on Saturday evenings, and outdoor dining pleases folks when the weather cooperates.

Save your money & time
Terrible service at a ridiculous price. If you are the type of person who likes to waste an evening frustrating yourself, or thinks "it's expensive, so it must be good," then this is the place for you.
We went with friends from out of town, thinking that this restaurant would impress them. Upon our arrival, we realized that we were alone inside the place. Good thing I made those 7pm reservations. After being seated in the least attractive, cold corner of the place, we then learned of their limited bar. Our mixed drinks were each bad enough to send back. Our appetizers arrived cold, and the meal orders were delivered wrong. My wife got the wrong entree completely, but was content to just settle with it. All told, maybe 2% of the evening went well. I wish we'd have contested the bill. Instead, we paid and escaped. Never again.

secret's best
1859 is a quant place to dine. For ordinary (not the rich) people, it's a once/twice a year dinner, maybe anniversaries or birthdays. We absolutley love the "Warm Pecan Crust Goat Cheese Spinach Salad." I could eat it every week. However there is one thing I don't like it the cabera singer. To sing "I am the Lineman for the County" an old Glen Campbell song does not fit the dinning experience.
