1. 20 Miles of Furniture

HICKORY.   This stretch of Highway 321, running from Hickory to the nearby town of Lenoir, hosts dozens of individual stores and outlets that offer more than 600 lines of furniture. Most of them price goods very competitively, and when sales are held and inventory must be moved, bargains are even better. Showrooms run from the basic to the more upscale, but the general selection is without parallel. Since most retailers are housed in separate buildings, it's a good idea to have a car for this part of your shopping.
