4. Melrose Golf Course

DAUFUSKI ISLAND.   Designed by Jack Nicklaus, this difficult golf course is situated on Daufuskie Island and is characterized by small, elevated greens and surrounding marshes. The 18th hole extends right over the ocean and onto a narrow peninsula. The ferry for Daufuskie departs from 421 Squire Pope Road on Hilton Head (call 843-341-4870 for ferry rates, reservations and schedules).   (© 10Best)
