6. Mong Kok

MONG KOK.   Mong Kok has a complicated and multi-layered reputation. Architecturally, the district is an interesting conglomeration of old and new construction. It's also known for its shopping. Ladies Market (Tung Choi Street) is a hub for women's fashions; the Mong Kok Computer Centre has numerous vendors of computers and accessories; and Tile Street has more than 50 stores devoted to construction and renovation materials. But there are also markets specializing in jade, goldfish, flowers, birds and food. Portland Street, Hong Kong's most famous (infamous?) red-light district also runs right through Mong Kok. The one constant? People. Hordes of them. One visit here will leave no doubt that this is one of the most densely populated places on Earth.   (© 10Best)
