3. Nobu Waikiki

WAIKIKI.   The Nobu mystique is alive and well at this Honolulu outpost, which counts Robert De Niro among its owners. Even without a celebrity connection, the restaurant would be a culinary destination, courtesy of chef Nobu Matsuhisa's spectacular food and the place's careful service. Sushi and saké get lots of attention, but so, too, do tobanyaki and tempura selections. Omakase dinners are popular as well, especially when you want to splurge. Quality does come at a price, so be forewarned, but it's hard to bypass Nobu when you crave excellent Japanese fare.   (© 10Best)

The food that we did order was really good, but the portions compaired with the prices. I would have minded that as I don't mind spending a lot on good food and service, but our waiter wouldn't give us any direction with what to order. We asked and all we got was don't order any of the rolls. We finally took to ordering what we saw at other tables, asking the bus boy what that table was eating and having him pass it on to the waiter. With a differant waiter this could have been a good experiance.
