2. Barbecue Inn

The service was courteous and prompt. As far as the food I found it to be lacking of the reputation given to Texas and it's BBQ. It was fairly cold and the sauce was weak like watered down Heinz BBQ sauce. The black beans were in need of a special sweetener like mollasses to become authentic. The coleslaw was tasty and I found that to be the most enjoyable dish of the night.

Very rarely do you find great food like this. Gracious service combined with old-fashioned good food. My favorites are the chicken fried steak and the seafood platter - nothing better. Oh and the Barbecue is good too!!

It's hard to describe how good this place is, but we drive 25 miles from Katy to eat there all the time. The best down-home food in Houston. The best old-fashioned seafood in Houston. And some of the best barbecue in Houston, especially the beautiful chicken and tender pork. And the staff are the best in town -- old-fashioned service, the way it used to be, and still should be. It's just a gem in every way.

Actually, their seafood platter is amazingly good. The catfish and oysters melt in your mouth, the shrimp is fresh, and the stuffed crab is punguent with delicious seasonings. The atmosphere is totally authentic retro and so is the waitstaff, who are very friendly and efficient.
